Wettges ist ein winziges Dörfchen im Vogelsberg in Hessen, in dem meine Mama aufgewachsen ist, und das besteht nun offiziell seit 525 Jahren.
Aus diesem Anlass feierte das ganze Dorf und stellte verschiedenes aus.
Natürlich interessierten mich am meisten die alten Trachten.
Wettges is a tiny village in Hesse, where my mom grew up.
It just celebrated the 525th anniversary.
For this occasion the hole village had a big party and made some exibitions of several old things.
Of course I was mainly interested in old folk costumes.
Die kleine Ausstellung fand im ehemaligen Schulhaus statt.
Was besonders spannend war, ist die Tatsache, dass in diesem Raum meine Mama als Kind gelebt hat.
Sie wohnte mit ihren Eltern in diesem einen Raum.
Das war Küche, Schlafzimmer, Kinderzimmer, Wohnzimmer zugleich.
Kann man sich heute kaum vorstellen.
This little exhibition took place in the old school house.
What was exciting for me, was the fact that this room was the place where my mom lived with her parents.
It was kitchen, slepping room an living room, all in one.
You can hardly imagine this nowadays.
Am Ende unseres Rundgangs entdeckte ich ein paar alte Schulhefte aus den Fünfzigern, und ob ihr es glaubt oder nicht, es waren welche von meiner Mama dabei.
Und wir durften sie sogar mitnehmen.
Was ein Schatz.
At the end of the tour I even found some old school notebooks from the Fifties.
And believe it or not, some of them had belonged to my mother.
We were allowed to take them with us.
What a treasure.
